DROPSTONE (When the Sky Falls)
(from the album "Choices for the New Nature" (2002), genre: Trance, 6:34)

Comment from a listener: "I like that kind of 'degenerated' drum sound that synchronizes this song.
This is probably the song I liked the most in addition to Here/Train.
Melody, that the clockwork/xylophone-sounding instrument occasionally plays,
is particularly beautiful. Once again a working unity."

-Ilkka Hanski    Finland

HERE / TRAIN (Shortened Version)
(from the album "My Departure" (2000), genre: Hard Trance, 4:41)

Review from a listener/CD-buyer:
"Another one of the web favourites, hehe. I really enjoy this song, it's got a good 'drive' and some of those droning
qualities I love so much... You know, when you get the feeling that a song should just
continue for hours... All sounds are well chosen, they make it sound very coherent.
Verdict: 9 out of 10 -- one of the best tracks you've made, easily.
I'd happily give you a record contract after hearing this one, if I had that power.. ;)"

-Peo    Sweden

LOMBERDO
(from the album "World Lies in Leaves" (2001), genre: Trance, 4:13)

Review from a listener: "The "arpeggio pluck" heard already in the beginning is excellent!
Structually this song can be divided into few ideas
("arpeggio", melody and drum-/bassbackground), that are
played in different phases of the song and combined in the end
-- in a whole it is a functioning solution."

-Ilkka Hanski    Finland

Review from another listener: "General opinion: Great intro!
It makes me a bit sad that you kill it off so abruptly (18 seconds), perhaps you should've made it more transparent?
Sounds: Very good except for one beat sound which sounds very alike an old 8-bit sample.
Verdict: overall a nice tune with good sounds."
-Peo    Sweden

CLOSE TO HEART (Messages from the Grove)
(from the album "Springbringer" (2004), genre: Ambient, 2:47)

Comment from a listener:
"Beautiful, harmonic and wandering ambient. That one sound there is interesting; kind of like "mjaau"... heh...
Great piece, especially when I realized that all the instruments really are human voice.
Listenable work and this could be played on Avaruusromua (Space Junk) radio show... =)"

-P!LOT    Finland

UNNA PRISMAL ê CANTE, MOMENT II (Prism: Encounter in the Light of Sun)
(from the album "Choices for the New Nature" (2002), genre: Ambient/Trance, 6:42)

Review from a listener:
"Beautiful. Pads are extremely beautiful. Rather tragic turn around at 3 mins.
Interesting and different. 9 out of 10. The after taste of the song is good."

-North Vibes    Finland

OVERCOMING (ComO3V)
(from the album "World Lies in Leaves" (2001), genre: Experimental/Analog Electronic/Dark Ambient, 6:42)

Review from a listener:
"The organ that appears in minute and half is mighty round and mellow!
And the sound playing simple, "grating" melody course is brilliant too!
Voice-samples and their usage -- not particular bad thing to say
about it but somehow using human voice limits the interpretation
or experience of the song by the listener.
So in my opinion the man's voice and his message becomes
the main focus, that is not necessarily a bad thing
but I think the song would get along without it too."

-Ilkka Hanski    Finland

SPRINGBRINGER THEME
(from the album "Springbringer - Dreams Unfinished" (2004), genre: Symphonic Ambient, 1:16)

Comment from the author: "This is the original theme of Springbringer from 2004 and there are
different variations of it (slow and low mix, hopeful conclusion, trance remix...)
The string theme melody is from the intro of a song called Quadraphonic
(which was a 4 channel MOD) I composed already back in 1996."

THE CIRCLE OF LIFE
(from the album "My Departure" (2000), genre: Electric Instrumental/Mellow, 4:41)

Review from a listener/CD-buyer:
"General opinion: I've heard this one a lot. It's a very nice song, one of your better ones.
As I said on
My Departure, this is coherent and makes up a real "song" to my ears.
I can't stress enough that this is the way to go!
Sounds: Quite nice blend of sounds here.
Sound quality: Mm, it's getting better. Apart from some generic noise in a couple of samples,
the only thing I'm really missing here is "soundscaping", or "depth" as some people call it.
It sounds too much like all sounds come from the same place, there's no apparent imaging in the soundscape.
This would greatly improve with a sense of depth in the sounds, especially in the string and beat sections.
Verdict: 8 out of 10 - very good track, makes for repeated listening."

-Peo    Sweden

Comment from a listener:
"Pretty darn good!! Everything works. Melodies are nice and feely but the point is there :)."
-North Vibes    Finland

Comment from another listener: "Rather atmospheric. I was especially fond of the skillful use of hi-hat.
Sounds almost like real pounding of drums at times!"

-Monsieur    Finland

THE FALL (a.k.a. The River)
(from the album "Belief" (1999), genre: Ambient/Orchestral Trance/Experimental)

Review from a listener/CD-buyer:
"General opinion: Strange intro/song mix, the intro just ends and something completely different turns up, hmm.
Very strong at around 3 minutes into it. Dream-like and drony, feels really good.
Then we have a complete metamorphose at 4 mins, and well, umm, I'm not sure I agree with it from thereon. :)
And a minute later it changes completely again, into a rather nice beat.
Finally, the last minute is completely different again.
Verdict: this sounds like five tunes forced together, and the end result is far from coherent.
8 points out of 10 to the section at 3-4 mins, though. :)"

-Peo    Sweden

A JOURNEY TO BEGIN: THE FIRST LEG
(from the album "Fallbringer" (2003), genre: Medieval, 3:41)

Comment from a listener: "I have this image of a lady of the castle trying to catch fire on the pit,
and when it doesn't work, soon all the people in the castle are there to give it a shot."

-tekopyhä    Finland

THREE THOUSAND SUNS AGO (Moment VI)
(from the album "Fallbringer" (2003), genre: Ambient, 3:25)

Comment from a listener:
"Really beautiful floating. Maybe a bit too similar throughout, but it doesn't matter."
-Eurydome    Finland

SPECIAL REVIEWS BY A CUSTOMER - MUSIC-ENTHUSIAST "PEO" Sweden
OF TUNES THAT ARE NOT ON-LINE

LET MY SPIRIT FLY
(from the album "My Departure" (2000), genre: Ethnic Hard Trance, 2:55)

Review from a listener/CD-buyer:
"General opinion: Nice intro, which turns into an interesting, well, sort of "tribal" beat. I like this a lot.
Sounds: This certainly sounds "Jukka", hehe. Many of your standard instruments at play here.
I'm still slagging the drums though, they're simply too low quality to fit here.
Sound quality: If it wasn't for the "noise drums" (I think I'll call them that from now on ;) - I enjoy this.
Verdict: very nice try, let's get more of this."

DO PENGUINS DREAM OF WARMTH
(from the album "World Lies in Leaves" (2001), genre: Psychedelic Trance, 5:57)

Review from a listener/CD-buyer:
"General opinion: Rather strange combination of intro/tune. The intro feels
like a drony dark ambient track, while the tune is something different.
Sounds: I love the lead sounds, they are very effective!
It's also nice with the soft metallic touch in the background.
Sound quality: I think it works better because there are many
chip sounds in here, so you get that retro feeling going, hehe."

INGREDIENTS OF SUN (Was 2 t 1)
(from the album "World Lies in Leaves" (2001), genre: Ambient/Trance, 7:16)

Review from a listener/CD-buyer:
"General opinion: I love the intro, but I think the section from 2:30 to about 4 mins is too 'standard', and not very exciting.
It gets better after that, with some nice trancey beats, and a nice repeat of the intro.
All in all, a good tune except what I noted above.
Ideas: A slow and dark, pounding beat + the first 2:30 would effectively
make it a mysterious industrial tune.. Well worth investigating, hehe."

RELEASE YOURSELF (Original)
(from the album "Belief" (1999), genre: Electronic, 3:30)

Review from a listener/CD-buyer:
"General opinion: A strange mix indeed. The beats make me think of Nitzer Ebb, but then there's a piano..
Hmm. It's really effective in the mid section, not sure what I'm going to think about the intro though.
Sounds: Interesting mix of sounds; quite unexpected to hear a piano in the intro.
Verdict: I find this quite interesting, a most confusing blend of sounds (to me, anyway, hehe)."

L'VIA CONTAST 'PREÄ;
(from the album "My Departure" (2000), genre: Experimental/Ambient/Trip Hop, 2:12)

Review from a listener/CD-buyer:
"General opinion: Wonderful intro! I was just going to say in a previous commentary
that you need to work more with voices, and here is a good example of why.
Voices are really nice instruments, and they can lift any track. Sounds: Nice ones, I love the voice!
Sound quality: So-so. The backgrounds are pretty muffled and needs to be much crisper than this.
Verdict: nice one! Should make an interesting song if you'd expand it with something more. :)"

AWAIT (The Wait Is Over)
(from the album "My Departure" (2000), genre: Intro/Ambient, 2:13)

Review from a listener/CD-buyer:
"General opinion: Nice intro song!
Sounds: A nice mix of sounds, this sounds a lot more coherent than many previous intros [on an album].
Sound quality: Pretty good; nothing stellar, but it works."

DISHARMONY
(from the album "My Departure" (2000), genre: Instrumental/Electric, 5:03)

Review from a listener/CD-buyer:
"General opinion: This is nice. Pretty dreamy first half, it slightly becomes a demo tune after that,
but that's mostly due to one instrument (the leading one at around 3-4 mins).
But overall, it's a fairly coherent piece which sounds like it
took much longer time to produce than some other tracks I've listened to.
Sounds: Ah, I think you've got some new sounds again, hehe. Much, much better than before.
The piano sounds fairly convincing, and the bass is a major improvement on some other tracks.
Sound quality: This is pretty much ok.
Verdict: Good overall."

RHYTHM
(from the album "Belief" (1999), genre: Mellow Trance, 3:47)

Review from a listener/CD-buyer:
"General opinion: Very nice intro! I really like this kind of style, some sort of mellow, drony trance.
These tracks should be 20 minutes long and have a hypnotic
beat, and everything would be juuuust fine.. *grin*
Sounds: Apart from the quality (noise), very nice sounds overall!
Verdict: this is promising. With better samples and perhaps some more action/variation
towards the end, this could be something."
